This is the first time that I have followed a pattern that involved more than knitting and purling. The results were encouraging enough that I took a stab at teaching myself how to do cables. My sample swatch mostly looks like it is supposed to except for the varying lengths between the crossovers that I created in the process of trying out different effects. Along the way, I found that, in lieu of the DPNs or cable needle that I don't have, a bobby pin works just as well to hold the waiting stitches.
